Reflection #1: The Social Network

I think this film relates to my current situation in college because he was trying so hard to do something that would change the world. We all want to do something with our lives, and that's what he did, and that's what I'm trying to do.

I think the filmmakers are trying to say about life choices is that one wrong choice can lead to very bad consquences. For example, when Eduardo Saverin made the choice to not look at the documents he signed, his percent was cut down to nearly nothing. I think what they are trying to say about ethics is that people have good intentions but end up doing the wrong thing without even realizing. I say this because I think Mark truly cared for Eduardo as a friend, but was so caught up with expanding Facebook, he ended up hurting him. I think what they are trying to say about friendship is that it impares judgement. I think this because it kind of goes with what I said about life choices and ethics. Eduardo cared about Mark and thought enough of him that he never thought that Mark would do such a thing to him.

The character I empathize with the most is Eduardo. He was such a good friend to Mark and was truly trying to be part of Facebook. He gave Mark tons of chances to make things right with him. He put money in the account, he supported Mark in every way he could have, and he was the Co-Founder of Facebook. He was really hurt when Mark stabbed him in the back, and I just think that is really sad.

I feel that Mark Zuckerberg was just a guy that wanted to do the unthinkable and would of done anything to do so. He isn't a villain, the only bad things that were wrong was that he blogged about his ex girlfriend in a really mean way, put up a site that compared girls, and stabbed a friend in the back. Everyone does these things in some sort. He was drunk, hurt, and jealous. Those things make people do crazy things. I also think he regretted them, you could see it in his face (well in the movie). So obviously he isn't a villain, villains, in my opinion, don't have remorse.

In conclusion, Mark Zuckerberg is a hero. I mean, he invented Facebook! Almost everyone in the world has a Facebook: Teenagers, grandparents, elementary students, teachers, doctors, every kind of person really. He truly did the unthinkable and has made a legend of himself.
